11/11/19 School Board Meeting Guide

There were two main items of interest to the community that took place at last night’s short school board meeting:

1. Honoring Chuck Ballard

This was Chuck Ballards’s last meeting. He has served on the East Penn School Board for more than 24-years, helping guide the district through massive changes in the community and the schools over that time. A number of people, including Superintendent Kristen Campbell, board president Ken Bacher, and teacher association president Susan Arnold offered thoughts of praise and thanks for his service. Mr. Ballard also offered some personal reflections on his time on the board. Click on their names above to hear what each of them said.

2. New Curriculum and ‘School Within a School’ (SWS) Pilot Program Passed

Both the new curriculum and the SWS have been discussed several times over the last few meetings (see here and here for details). After providing significantly more information about the SWS program, and administration meetings with a number of individual board members (myself included), the SWS was unanimously and enthusiastically approved.
